Spa Walks in Karlovy Vary (5)
A traditional part of the spa treatment in Karlovy Vary are, of course, physical activities. Since 1352, the famous town has been surrounded by romantic spa forests, which provide the ideal conditions for walking and cycling. From the wide range of promenade tracks and tourist paths lined by many different historical buildings, outlook towers, view points, monuments and other sights, the Collegium of Karlovy Vary spa doctors has chosen 22 most suitable ones for terrain walks ranked according to the level of physical acivity demanded.
Walk Five
- difficulty: easy
- length: 2,200 m
- time: ca. 30 minutes
- crossfall: 80 m
Route: The walk leads from the funicular station Jelení skok (Stag`s Leap) through the lookout path climbing gently to the path crossing at the Ecce Homo chapel. From there it gradually descends along the Odpolední stezka to Slovenská ulice. There the rout turns left, back to the tennis courts and the bus stop.
Points of interest: The funicular to Vrch přátelství started its regular operation in 1912 and with its 437 metres was the longest funicular of the then Austria-Hungary. The relatively small interest of visitors increased significantly after the outlook tower was open in 1914. The funicular has gone through several reconstructions. The current state is from 1988.
Easy walks, suitable even in case of arthral and breathing difficulties.
