Spa Walks in Karlovy Vary (2)
A traditional part of the spa treatment in Karlovy Vary are, of course, physical activities. Since 1352, the famous town has been surrounded by romantic spa forests, which provide the ideal conditions for walking and cycling. From the wide range of promenade tracks and tourist paths lined by many different historical buildings, outlook towers, view points, monuments and other sights, the Collegium of Karlovy Vary spa doctors has chosen 22 most suitable ones for terrain walks ranked according to the level of physical acivity demanded.
Walk Two
- difficulty: easy
- length: 2,300 m
- time: ca. 40 minutes
- crossfall: 20 m
Route: From Poštovní dvůr, the signpost will lead you through Slovenská ulice to the bridge over the Teplá River. Having ascended to the Beethoven`s altan, the route turns from the asphalt road to the path below the pond and from there descends to the tennis courts behind the river. Then it leads to the Alice hotel at the edge of Březová and terminates at a bus stop.
Points of interest: Beethovenův altán commemorates the only concert of the famous composer in Karlovy Vary; Beethoven was here as a patient and together with the Italian violinist G. B. Polledre played the concert on 6 August 1812 as a "benefit performance" to help the inhabitants of the spa Baden near Vienna, which was destroyed by fire. During his stay, the famous musician also met the renowned poet and regular guest of Karlovy Vary spa, J. W. Goethe.
Easy walks, suitable even in case of arthral and breathing difficulties.
